Ryder Conservation Area
The Ryder Conservation Area was purchased in 1974. The 243 acres feature frontage on Wakeby Lake, abandoned cranberry bogs, wildlife management areas, and the Conservation Commission nursery. Walking trails weave through native holly trees over 100 years old and beech and pine groves. Activities include swimming, fishing, hunting, boating, walking, birding, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. A public beach with a lifeguard, bathhouse, and sailing lessons is accessible Memorial Day to mid-September with a town sticker or day pass. Fishing access is open to the public year round.
