Hoxie House
The Hoxie House is one of the oldest houses on Cape Cod and is mostly likely the oldest Saltbox on Cape Cod. The oldest home in Sandwich, It was built around 1675, sits on its original location by Shawme Pond and was the home of the town’s second minister, Rev. John Smith, his wife, Susanna, and their 13 children. It was named after Abraham Hoxie, a Sandwich whaling captain, who purchased the house in the 1850s. In the 1950s, the town purchased the house and restored it to its late 17th century condition.
