Dexter Grist Mill
The Dexter Grist Mill was built by Thomas Dexter in 1654 and is still a working mill. In 1961, the mill was restored to its original 17th century design and features a 54-inch French burl millstone. During the glassmaking boom of the 1800s, the mill kept factory workers and others living in town wouldn’t have to travel far to get their corn milled. You can tour the mill, watch the wooden gears grind corn and buy freshly ground cornmeal (traditional corn meal recipes come with every bag).
